What is Your Sacred Art?
When we look at sacred traditions for women we see such things as ancient dance forms like Bharat Natyam or Raqs Shaqi. Or we might look at more homely crafty types of practices - knitting, sewing, baking cakes. We are see amazing gardeners and painters. Some women are incredible horse-women, healers and animal lovers. Some women collect the most beautiful things or make the most beautiful quilt or smock. Our sacred arts are as diverse as the feminine energy itself.
The important thing about our sacred arts is that often we be-little something that we are really wonderful at. I know women who are amazing home-keepers or they just have a way of arranging flowers that is to die for.
When I look at blog’s such as Chocolate & Zucchini and Paris Breakfasts , I thoroughly enjoy those women’s art. I believe that Chocolate & Zucchini has successfully converted her passion to her daily work. But I guess that perhaps she is not the norm.
I listened to Ken Wilber today talk about women not being paid for their interior lives and that it worked on a different scale of economics rather than financial. I feel that embracing and/or acknowledging what we do well and what we love and enjoy and are passionate about, is part of reclaiming our sacred art.
Please celebrate the next women who brings her favourite cheesecake to a party, or her famous salad. It’s her art.
